The National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) established its Foundation, a 501c3 organization, in 1994 as the National Hispanic Medical Foundation to develop educational and research activities. In 2000, the name was changed to the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF). In 2006, NHHF was affiliated with the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University.

The mission of the NHHF is to improve the health of Hispanics and other underserved. Our aim is to provide a unique leadership role marshalling the creative energy of Hispanic researchers from around the country and to provide the insights and strategies that can translate into a healthier Hispanic population and quality care for the underserved.
